Your rights

You have certain rights when we process your personal data. Find out what rights you have and how to exercise them.

Access your personal data

You have the right to know whether we process your personal data. If we process your data, you have the right to access this data through an extract from the register. You also have the right to receive information about, among other things,

  • which categories of data we process
  • what we use the personal data for
  • how long we save the data
  • to whom we have provided the data
  • where the data comes from.

Request correction

You have the right to request that we correct personal data about you if it is incorrect or incomplete. You can also supplement your personal data with relevant details we are lacking.

You also have the right to request correction of data we have which is misleading regarding your willingness or ability to pay your debts. For example, it may be that details about a debt may lead others to believe you did not want to pay or could not pay, even though the debt was registered with us for completely different reasons.

You can read more about correcting misleading information on the website:

Correction of data

Request deletion

Under certain circumstances, you have the right to have your personal data deleted. For example, if the data is no longer needed or if we have processed the data unlawfully.

As we are a public authority authority, we have very limited possibilities to delete your personal data. We are obliged to process certain personal data in our activities. We are also obliged to save, for example, decisions and information about you in accordance with various laws and regulations.

Object to our processing

In some cases, you can object to how we process your personal data. This applies when we process them in our exercise of official authority or to carry out other tasks in the public interest. If we cannot demonstrate that there are grounds for continuing to process the data, we must stop doing so.

However, your right to object is limited. It does not apply in most of our activities, such as

  • order to pay
  • enforcement
  • debt restructuring
  • bankruptcy supervision.

The reason why your right to object is limited is that it is important that we are allowed to process your personal data regardless of your attitude towards our activities. It is a prerequisite for us to be able to perform our tasks in a correct, legally certain, and efficient manner.

Request restriction of our processing

You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data under certain conditions. Restriction means that we mark the data so that we only process it for certain purposes in the future.

For example, you can request restriction when you request correction or object to a certain processing. You can then request that the processing of your personal data be restricted while we investigate whether the information is correct or examine your objection.

Your right to request a restriction is different from the right to have your personal data deleted. A restriction does not mean that we delete the data, but that we restrict the use of the data.

Transfer of your personal data (data portability)

In some cases, you have the right to receive your personal data in a certain format so that you can use it elsewhere. One example is that you want to transfer them to another data controller.

A prerequisite is that you have given your consent for us to process the data or that we are processing the data to fulfil a contract with you. This only applies to data you have provided to us.

Your right to request your personal data in this manner is very limited. The reason is that we, in most cases, process the data based on other lawful grounds than consent and contract.

Withdraw your consent

If you have given your consent to us processing your personal data, you can withdraw your consent at any time. It does not affect the lawfulness of the processing we have already carried out.

If you withdraw your consent, we may no longer process your personal data. This does not always mean that we can delete your data. Read more in the section Request deletion.

How to exercise your rights

You can order an extract from the register by filling in the form Begäran om information enligt dataskyddsförordningen (GDPR) [Request for information under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)]. The form is available on the website.

Regarding other rights, you can email our customer service.

To fulfil your rights, we must process your personal data, for example the data you provide to us when you submit a request for an extract from the register. In some cases, we may need to collect additional data about you if it is necessary for us to verify that we are in contact with the right person.

You have the right to exercise your rights free of charge, but there are certain situations where we may charge a fee to cover our administrative costs. We may do this if, for example, you request multiple copies of an extract from the register.

You can appeal the decisions we make in connection with your request to exercise your rights. You will receive information on how to appeal in the decision.
