You need to pay fees and costs for various kinds of cases. You can read what applies to you if you have a claim against someone or if you have received notice of a claim.

The fees are intended to cover our costs

The fees we charge are intended to cover our costs for a case. The government decides on the amount of the fees. You may have to pay other costs in addition to our fees.

You have a claim against someone

You want to have a claim determined (order)

** Please note that we will not begin processing your application until you have paid. If payment is delayed or not received, we will reject your application.

You may also have to pay an additional fee if you send your application to us and the person you have a claim against lives in another EU country. The reason for this is that we may need to seek assistance of a foreign court to ensure that the person against whom you have a claim is notified of the claim (service of process). Some countries charge a fee of more than EUR 100 for this. As the applicant, you are responsible for paying this fee.

Frequently asked questions

Costs for special assistance

If you have applied for special assistance, for example because someone is occupying your property without permission, you can only request compensation for the

  • application fee
  • your own work or that of your representative (normally reimbursed at SEK 420)
  • costs for the person to be served with the claim (service of process costs)
  • certain translation costs.

Businesses can request compensation in claims against other businesses

If your business has a claim against another business, you can request compensation for late payment (SEK 450 per invoice) in your application for an order to pay or assistance.

If you have sent a written claim for compensation for delay, you can also request interest. Interest begins to accrue 30 days from the date you sent the claim.

You will not normally be paid for both collection costs and late payment fees.

Court fees

You will have to pay a fee to the court if

  • you want to take your case to court because the person to whom the claim is directed objects to (disputes) the claim
  • the person against whom the claim is directed wants the court to review our decision (verdict), which we call an application for re-trial
  • the person against whom the claim is directed wants to have the decision (verdict) reviewed by the court. This may take place in cases regarding special assistance.

SEK 300 per identified person, max SEK 3,000

Annual basic fee for implementing decisions

Your case will continue without any time limit – until it is paid in full, resolved, or withdrawn.

Who should pay the fee?

The general rule is that the person who has the debt (the debtor) must pay the basic fee. If they cannot pay, we will bill you. We will do this after the fact or at the start of a new processing year, or if you withdraw the case.

If money is received for your case from, for example, an attachment, you will be refunded the fee.

A new basic fee each year

Each year that we continue to process your case, we add a new basic fee. You will receive a letter from us before we add the fee. If you do not want us to continue processing the case, you must withdraw it. If you withdraw the case, you will always receive an invoice for any unpaid fees, as we invoice retroactively.

If the debt is less than SEK 100, you will not pay any basic fee.

One claim – one fee

If your claim is directed at several people, i.e. consists of several cases (joint and several liability), we only charge one basic fee.

Two claims – two fees

You pay two basic fees if you apply for us to implement a decision (enforce) two claims, for example eviction and payment of a debt.

No basic fee for damages or support

If you are awaiting damages in a criminal case or support payments, you do not need to pay any fee to apply for our help in collecting the debt (enforcement).

You live abroad and are required to pay the basic fee

Are you living abroad and applying for us to enforce a decision? You will then receive either a letter with instructions on how to pay an advance or an invoice. When you are due to pay the next basic fee, you will receive an invoice.

You may be exempt from the basic fee

You may be exempt from paying the basic fee. This may be because the fee is unreasonable or because another party is responsible for paying it.

Correction of data

Costs in addition to the basic fee

These may include, for example, costs relating to

  • sales (costs for transport of attached goods, valuation, brokerage fees, etc.)
  • moving (removal) from premises
  • eviction.

These fees are calculated based on the actual costs. When we sell property to pay a debt, the fees are primarily paid with the proceeds of the sale.

The general rule is that the person who has the debt (the debtor) must pay the basic fee and the costs of enforcement. If they cannot pay, you as the applicant might have to pay. If there are several applicants, you will all be liable (jointly and severally) for the costs.

Sometimes you may be required to pay in advance, for example if we assess from the outset that the costs will be high.

Read more about costs in connection with eviction.

Implement an eviction

Costs you do not have to pay

There are situations where you are not responsible for the costs. Please note that we assess each case individually.

You are not normally responsible for costs

  • for basic, preparation, or sales fees when you apply for damages due to a crime (you may have to pay fees that may arise in connection with a sale, such as storage or appraisal costs)
  • when you apply for a judgment to be enforced and you have received legal aid during the trial
  • when you have purchased and gained access to a dwelling, attic, basement, or garage for a passenger car after a forced sale
  • for storage and certain other measures in connection with an eviction and other assistance
  • for enforcement against employers who have not complied with our decisions on wage garnishment
  • to scrap or destroy removed property belonging to the person against whom the claim is directed (the debtor) in the case of special assistance.
