If you are unable to pay your debts we may attach your salary. That means that a part of you salary is used to pay your debts.
There are several factors that influence the size of a salary attachment. In investigating your financial situation we consider the following, among other things:
You will always be guaranteed to keep a certain amount of your salary in order to be able to support yourself. We call this the reserved amount, and it consists of your accommodation costs plus a standard amount to cover your general living costs. You may also get supplements for childcare, travel to work etc. You can read more about the standard amount on the page headed “How much do I get to keep?”.
At the beginning of the investigation into your finances we will send you an “Assessment of income” form. In it you can provide information about
You can provide this information via our online service, My income and expenses, as well.
It is important that you provide this information in order for our calculation to be correct. If you choose not to provide information, this can lead to the attachment becoming too big, leaving you with insufficient funds to support yourself.
It is also important that you notify us if your circumstances change, so we can adjust the size of the salary attachment accordingly.
If you are married or cohabiting, we will consider your partner’s income and some of his/her expenses. Your salary attachment can thus affect your partner as well. We will not, however, attach your partner’s salary in order to pay for your debts.
We will also contact

We will divide the money we attach between your creditors, in proportion to the size of each debt. However, some debts take precedence over others, for example:
A salary attachment can go on for as long as the debt remains and you have an income that can be attached.
If you take on a new debt while the attachment is going on, it will not be added to the others. Your reserved amount, i e the amount you get to keep, will also remain unchanged – as will the attachment amount.
If you consider a decision incorrect you can request a rectification, which you do by contacting us. Should we determine that the decision does not need to be changed, or if you would like a court to examine the matter straight away, you can appeal the decision.
